27 April 1763:  At this Court William Broadhurst Son of Rev Tho Broadhurst of Chester in the country of Chester was bound apprenticed to James Bradshaw.

26 Jun 1774: William Broadhurst was admitted free by service of Mr James Bradshaw on payment of the usual fees, gave 10/6 to the poor box.

31 Aug 1780: Mr James Broadhurst recommended by Mr John Hill Winbolt at the last court was admitted free by redemption having first taken the usual oath and paid a fine of thirty guineas and the usual fees and gave half a guinea to the poor box.

28 April 1786: James Broadhurst got 44 votes to be elected to the livery. One person got 56 votes and the lowest was 1.  13 people were elected from the 24 attempting it.

28 July 1786: Mr James Broadhurst who was elected on the livery at the last quarterly court was sworn and admitted having first paid his livery and stewards fines and fees and gave one guinea to the poor box.

29 April 1813: At this Court also William Broadhurst Son of William Broadhurst a liveryman of this company was made free by patrimony having produced the copy of his father’s freedom took the usual oath and gave 1 guinea to the poor box.

26 Sept 1816: The following 12 gentlemen elected [aio] the livery at the last court were duly sworn and admitted paid their fines and fees and gave a guinea each to the poor box. … Mr William Broadhurst Jun.

Also at this time the company was actively attempting to ban slavery.

26 Nov 1816: At this Court James Broadhurst the younger was made free by patrimony of his father William Broadhurst a liveryman of this company a copy of the father’s freedom having been produced the said James Broadhurst the younger took the usual oath and gave 1 guinea to the poor box.

27 Jan 1824: At this Court Alfred Broadhurst Son of William Broadhurst a liveryman of this company was made free by patrimony took the usual oath and gave 1 £ to the poor box.

19th April 1848: At this court Alfred William Broadhurst the younger of Rodney Terrace West Mile End son of Alfred Broadhurst the elder of the same place Esq., a liveryman of this company was made free by patrimony was identified by W. Broadhurst Esq. Produced the certificates of his father and mothers marriage and his own baptism took the usual oath and gave £1-1 to the Poor Box.

1865.       ALFRED BROADHURST

Of Fenchurch Street, and Camberwell in the county of Surrey, born 1797, son of William Broadhurst, of Kennington, by . . ., daughter of . . . Hamilton, and grandson of the Rev. Thomas Broadhurst, one of the Minor Canons of Chester Cathedral, from 1760 to 1780.  Mr. Broadhurst married Anne, daughter of John Miller, of Kennington aforesaid, and granddaughter of Joseph Miller, of Nash-hall, in the country of Essex, by whom he has issue two sons, now living:  Alfred William, on the Court of the Ironmongers’ Company; and George Creighton; and one daughter, Mary Anne. 

Arms:  Azure, fretty raguly or.- Escucheon in the Hall.

                Note probably fairly accurate as he was Master in 1865 and still alive, but obviously not asked!

In 1957 Creighton Albert BROADHURST was Master.  He died in August 1958.
